Psalm 88 Psalm 88 is the darkest psalm in the entire Psalter — and uniquely, it never resolves. There is no turn toward hope, no final verse of praise. It simply ends in darkness. This sermon takes seriously the experience of unanswered prayer and divine silence — not to explain it away, but to sit with it honestly. The very existence of this psalm in Scripture is itself a kind of answer: God is not afraid of our darkness, and the language of lament is a legitimate and holy form of prayer.
